This week, RHS students had an unforgettable trip to Cheyenne, WY, immersing themselves in the workings of state and federal government!
They met with Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray, Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder, and Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Jarosh. At the Wyoming Legislature, they engaged with Representatives, Senators, and Majority Floor Leader & RHS alum Tara Nethercott, gaining
firsthand insight into the legislative process.
The group also visited the Cheyenne Municipal Court, where they observed court arraignment proceedings and met with Judge Singleton to learn about the role of municipal courts in the justice system.
A highlight of the trip was visiting the Federal District Court of Wyoming, where they met Federal Judge Rankin and 10th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Gregory Phillips, learning about the vital role federal courts play in upholding justice.
To make the experience even more memorable, students had the rare honor of signing their names in the dome of the Wyoming Capitol! This trip gave our students a deeper appreciation for civic engagement and Wyoming’s political heritage.
